Community Education Program

Community Education Program

How do we get the general community to participate?

The general perspective is that communities are not very responsive towards the subjects we handle, such as bite prevention, responsible pet ownership and general animal welfare.  However, using their community societies (Samithies) with the use of our liaison officer, we are able to reach out explaining the importance to fight the deadly disease rabies and of course touch on our other areas of education.

Why is public Education important?

The community will learn the below:

  • A better understanding of Rabies, its effects, and prevention.
  • Effects of excessive dog population and humane management methods.
    • Sterilization
    • Vaccination
    • Garbage management
  • The general importance of being compassion and understanding towards street animals normally homeless.
  • How to become better pet owners
  • Their involvement will only mean -To be of service to themselves in protecting their own future in relation to health and a cleaner environment.

For Blue Paw Trust it is important to have a sustainable and comprehensive program in relation to educating the general public, schools or communities.  Therefore, it is a key point that we should educate the communities alongside the schools.

In communities, our target audiences are parents (especially mothers), teachers, village priests, and the other somewhat influential persons who will understand our message and be able to support and spread the word.

Mothers are very focused on protecting their children from dog bites, therefore, they are our main target.

We also advise on vaccinating owned pets and community animals.
